I'm Late For Tea!!!...and this Blog Entry :P

Sorry about being late with
this blog again.
I'm gonna blame it on the
S-S-S-S-Sinus Infection.

I must say those are NO fun
at all! Happy that its pretty
much gone now though :)

Aside from that my week was
pretty awesome! Who else
checked out Alice in Wonderland?
I thought the acting all around
was very impressive. Especially
from Helena Bonham Carter
and Johnny Depp. What did
you guys think? Also this week
The Latency was confirmed as the
opening act on the Western
portion of Faber Drive's Canadian
Tour which I am pretty stoked
about! You guys can see the dates
on www.myspace.com/thelatency

SO last blog I asked a question.
What is your favorite duet of all time?
And you guys responded which was
awesome! I saw A Whole New World
pop up a couple times and I have to say
great choice! That would be my 2nd
favorite! If you guys wanna know my
favorite its kinda of a double whammy.
This is my favorite duet as well as my
favorite live vocal performance of
all time.

The Prayer by Celine Dion/Andrea Bocelli

Wooo..gives me chills.

Which transitions nicely into my
rant for the week.

*Quick note: I mean no slight
to any artists by this*

Live Performances.

When did being able to perform
stop being a requirement if
you wanted to be a performer?

Can we go to that day and
stop it from happening?
I say all this strictly from a
consumer point of view!

But I watch so much live music
today where I find myself completely
dissapointed. Alot of singers can't
or don't really sing. Alot of bands
are completely sloppy. I realize
that its more about the entity these days.
It's more about seeing the person
as opposed to hearing the content.
But it makes me a tiny bit sad.

I wonder if this happens in other
professions? I don't watch alot of
Basketball but I wonder if theres
any players in the NBA that can't
....play Basketball? Of course there
are some artists right now that are
phenomenal! I'm not applying this
to everyone. I just feel like the ratio
of artists that can recreate and artists
that just can't is turning around.

I'm not trying to be one of THOSE
guys. The cynics that knock every
musician thats not The Beatles.
Its not about the music. I LOVE
what we have in terms of Top 40
right now..the songs are killer.
All I'm saying is people whose profession
is singing..should be able..to sing..
REALLY well.

That was all vented strictly from
a listeners perspective.

Well thats what I got this week.
maybe next week a more positive rant!
Haha

Okay guys have a great week!

Love,
Brandon

aw glad you're getting better though =) that's what matters most!

Alice in Wonderland was very impressive! I really enjoyed it! the graphics were great, the actors were amazing and the music fit very well!

I'm happy you guys are going to be on tour but sad that you won't be part of the Eastern part of that tour! Montreal misses you <3 You need to come back soon (and preferably not in june when i won't be there haha)

And I completely agree with your rant. I find a lot of artists nowadays are disappointing live. It's like they're slacking off! But good thing we have bands like you guys! Seriously, you sound amazing live. You're able to sing...REALLY well ;)

I'm glad you're feeling better Brandon. Sinus infections are never that nice.

I agree with you about live music, I really do. If you're looking to blame someone, blame it on the British music. I'm serious. I love British music so I don't mean this to be offensive in any way. But British music has been allowing their musicians to lip-synch and "mime" for who knows how long. A band does a live tv show there? You don't have to sing live, or play your instruments. You do a live concert there... if you're a group that dances, you have pre-recorded music and don't even sing live the whole show, and only sing little snippets here and there (I could hook you up with one groups proof of that).

I know there are probably other countries that do it, but its the only one that I can think of that steadily over the years I see it happening again, and again. That's when music is a big let down, when every band or group you see on tv isn't even really live. Or when you pay good money for a concert it's basically not live either.

i haven't seen alice yet! i will soon!

and yeah, i agree with you.
i mean, and even if a person can't sing that well, (like as well as you, for example. haha brandon, your voice is beautiful) they should write songs that fit their voice, you know? i think a person sounds better singing songs they CAN then trying to reach notes they CAN'T. and i i don't like people that just stand there. they should look like they're having fun, because the fans are there to have fun!

and don't worry, you guys always look like you're having fun and your shows are SOOO much fun to go to! and you all sound amazing.

You seem to be forgetting Saturdays! It's okay. I too think I had something like a sinus infection about last week.
Good news is, you're getting better! :)
I'm really disapointed because you guys aren't on the rest of the tour, but these things happen sometimes. The Latency NEED their own headlining tour ASAP. Yes? Thankyou. :)

I completely agree with the live performances. Now a days, Autotune is being used quite abit or others would say it's been overused too much. This I think hides the talent the artist/person actually has, and therefore making their live performance somewhat of a letdown. I can say I've seen that happen. That's why I love the listen to bands/artists who I know have it all. The talent and the performance! Anyway, I guess people express them selves through music differently. So I'm not one to judge!
This I feel was a postive rant. Everyone can share their thoughts & opinions.
Can't wait for next week! haha. Well, sunday? ;) just kidding.

wow, i wanna see alice in wonderland so bad!!! did you know that the guy who wrote the book was on like acid and some other serious drugs... haha makes sence to me.

AND WOW OH MY GOSH IM SO EXCITED YOU GUYS ARE COMING ON TOUR! KINDA SAD BOTH REGINA AND SASKATOON ARE IN BARS AND WOULD BE 16+ OR 19+ WHICH MEANS I CANT GET IN :'( BUT CALGARY MIGHT BE A GO FOR ME AND MY 3 FRIENDS THAT WOULD COME!!! IM SOO FREAKING EXCITED WOOOOOOO!

so awesome that you liked my 'A Whole New World' idea, i was hopeing you would! :) <3 btw i really like your fave duet! wow Celine Dion is so amazing, that girl has some wicked pipes.

and about your whole thing on some of the new artist these days. some of them are just rediculas. it makes me mad because those people are getting the chance to become famous when there is people out there that are amazing and will never get that opportunity sadly. so that really sucks!

anyways, im sure ill see alice in wonderland soon. love, Taylore <3

Hey Brandon

I'm glad to hear your feedback on Alice in Wonderland was good because I'm going to take your word for it and go see it this week. Though I'm a little creeped out by Johnny Depps look in it he reminds me of clown and I dislike clowns very much.

I second your opinion on singers and there performaing because your right if they call themselves singers they should sing when they perform. Anyway other than that you and The Latency always put on an amazing performance and though I've only seen you guys perform twice each time you've been awesome and everyone knows its you actually singing which is great!!! I'm sooo happy you guys are touring again with Faber Drive!! wish I could make one of the shows but oh well next time! :) Have an awesome tour when you go because The Latency is amazing and always puts on an awesome show!:)<3

Also I liked finding out your favourite duet I forgot about that Celine Dion and Andrea Bocceili song(sorry if I spelled that wrong) they are definitly two of the most taleted singers and performers. But than again so are The Latency (at least I think so
<3)

I wish you all the best on getting well Brandon I know sinus infections really suck and I hope you feel better and have a great week! Talk to you on your next blog and can't wait to hear more ranting! :P

I saw 'Alice in Wonderland' in 3-D it was awesome. I thought Johnny Depp did an amazing job with The Mad Hatter. And I really liked the Cheshire Cat. The animation was so real didn't you think?

That's awesome you guys are going on tour again! I just hope you'll be coming back to Ontario very soon!

'The Prayer' is a really good song. I remember hearing it for the first time when I watched the movie "Quest For Camelot" haha! I also grew up listening to Andrea Bocelli because he is one of my mom's favourite artists. I think my favourite duet is 'Time To Say Goodbye' by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli actually.

It is a huge disapointment to hear/ see a band you love for the first time play live and they sound nothing like what the usually do. I think SOME musicians have gotten lazy, perhaps? Because they can rely on technology to make themselves sound wonderful. One thing I do know is that I was not at all disapointed with the first live performance I heard of you guys playing. This was at Club NV in Brantford. Actually all of the live perfomances I have seen of you guys have been fantastic. =)

I had a sinus infection too around the same time you did. They suck! Unfortunately the medication they gave me made me even sicker D: I did see Alice in Wonderland, since it actually came out on my birthday, hahaha. It was awesome! I'm really glad such an awesome movie came out on such an awesome day :P

I agree, I hate it when the bands I love don't sound the same live and/or have like, ZERO energy on stage. I'm not going to name anyone, but it would really be nice if being a performer was based on actual talent, not whether or not you just 'feel like' being part of a band. Marianas Trench is one of my favourite bands because they sound so good and have amazing stage presence.

Anyway, I hope to be seeing you guys on May 20 in Calgary. You need to make another blog post!
