Too Long

Too Long Indeed.
I hope I remember how to work this thing.

Lots to talk about. The CKAS Tour
was a whole lot of fun! Thanks to all you
guys that came out :)

I enjoyed having a longer set. It was
cool to be able to play some new songs.

Which brings me to the task at hand: New Songs.
I will be taking the next few months to
write a new album and record it with
The Latency. Exciting times. I have 13
songs written but I want 20 to choose from.
Keep an open mind these songs are quite
different from the last album. I couldn't be
more happy though because these songs feel
100% honest to me. I'm just letting it come
out and be what it wants to be which feels
really good. Hopefully, that will translate
into something you guys want to hear haha.

I was thinking about posting some clips of
demos up to get some feedback from you guys?
I think that might be cool.

Speaking of new albums one of my favorite
bands is putting out a new album and
just posted 3 new songs on their website!
http://www.greatbigsea.com/ just scroll
down a bit and the player is right there.
Check it out I'm pretty excited about it!

Does anyone else hate getting stuck? By that
I mean when you just feel like you can't focus
and form any sort of product. That happened
to me really bad a little while back. I didn't
write anything for 3 months and then one night
I just decided to write anything no matter
how forced it came out sounding. Strangely
I ended up writing one of the most natural
songs I've ever written. It was the first song
I wrote for this new album so I think its
fitting that it be Track 1. I'll leave you
now with the words to that song.

There's no reason to fight
'Cause you battle the world every day of your life
And I've been watching you cry for Too Long

There's no reason to frown
'Cause I promise you soon, I will turn it around
Life's been holding you down for Too Long

You've got so much reason to laugh
I've got a picture of this, should I remind you of that?
They've been holding you back for Too Long

There's so much you haven't lived
You gotta run with a saint and take a walk with a sin
They've been sinking your ship for Too Long

There's no reason to fight
'Cause you battle the world every day of your life
And I've been watching you cry for Too Long

Yay! I was wondering when you'd make another post on your blog :P The Calgary show was AMAZING and I demand you come back asap haha. I hope you liked it here. Meeting you guys was the most crazy awesome thing and I hardly got to say two words to you which was kind of a bummer, but your set was awesome and I was glad you got to play for a bit longer. I sang and danced the whole time. I remember the one of the new songs you guys played for us was so good, and I remember you playing Too Long for us as well. I'm soo stoked to hear new stuff, demos would be so good! Don't forget about us! Stay in touch :)

Hey, Brandon!

I’m excited to hearing you’ve got some plans for new songs and I think I understand when you say we’re gonna have something we want to hear. I saw the live video from Lovers Lane and the song is amazing! I’m sure the new album is gonna be awesome and I think we’ll all be glad to have the chance of listening to the demos and giving you some feedback. It’s great for a fan, you know, feeling like we’re part of a little part of the album.

Oh, by the way, I know exactly how it is to get stuck. I used to write some stories, like little books, and I just don’t feel able to do it anymore. You said you got stuck for 3 months? Well, I’ve been stuck for almost a year and I don’t think it’s about to have an end. I’ve already tried to force it, but everything I write just looks terrible. I myself get embarrassed reading it later, so I just trash everything, like it’s something I wouldn’t feel good giving people to read. I have these nice titles and plots and ideas, but I just can’t put them on the paper. The last time I started counting them, I had 43 Word documents filled of ideas. So, I understand how terrible you might have felt.

But, if that’s what you force yourself to write after getting stuck for so long, you shouldn’t complain about being unable to write something for a while. It’s amazing, and I’m not talking only as a fan, I’m telling this because one can see you put a heart on the lyrics. And it’s what makes good songs, isn’t it?

I hope you keep the good work and don’t take too long to update your blog again, hahaha.
Take care,

Cinthia.

Heey Brandon! Sorry this is kinda long but here we go!
This makes me super happy you posted a blog, you need to remember every saturday from now on, makes my week. :) <3 Im very happy you had a great time on the CKAS Tour. The Regina show was amazing, and I have to say, being front row, right infront of you, singing along with you was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! But mostly when we sang "Too Long" together and then after the second line you looked at my and said "Thats Amazing". Im not even going to lie, my heart melted, youre such a sweet guy. <3 I am SOO excited for the new album, you have no idea! Im sure it will be amazing because, 1. Anything from you guys is amazing, thats a given. 2. The 3 songs I have heard, are incredible and 3. Brandon, you are the best song writer there is. :) You are such an inspiration to my life. The music you create, is breathtaking. I know that you said its new and different and you hope we like it, but i KNOW for a fact we will. What you write is beautiful and speaks to so many people, never forget that! I REALLY hope its out soon. :) <3 & yes I would LOVE to hear demos, that would be awesome! & about, Great Big Sea, I will definitely go check them out! Btw, youre definitely not the only one who gets stuck writing. I write sometimes... and I get stuck A LOT. I think the more I start to write though, the better I might get, we will have to see. Brandon, dont worry if you get stuck, everyone does. I know one thing is for sure, is if "Too Long", is what you create after you get stuck and force yourself to write. you need to get stuck more often! Haha, catch what im saying? :D. I have 3 last things to say. First, THANK YOU, SO SO much for the email you sent me about the book Laura & I made, that definitely made our lives, haha! We love The Latency, clearly! I emailed you back if you havnt checked it out, you should. :D. 2nd, I know this is the second song I performed at my school this year of yours but... IM PLAYING AND SINGING "FORK IN THE ROAD" AT MY GRAD! YAY. I know we are only graduating from elementary, (we dont have middle school), but I thought going into high school next year this song would be p-e-r-f-e-c-t! :) I will get someone to video tape it again, (most likely Laura, like last time, haha) You should definitely check it out when it gets put on F.B! Finally, I will be in B.C, (Langley), most of July. From like the 4-20ish. So, I was just wondering if you guys are planning on playing any home town shows or any shows in the lower mainland at that time, because I would LOVE to come see you guys well Im there! :)
Love, Taylore. <3

Hey stranger, haha!
Didn't think we'd here from blehti.blogspot again! Glad you're back and updatting because I missed these so much!

I wish you guys would have been able to visit Ontario on the tour! I would have been there. I'm really excited to hear how to album process is going! Speaking of the new material, I listen to Pick Me Up like everyday. All the new songs are amazing and I can't wait to hear everything! I can tell the new songs are going to be something different, but what band doesn't progress as they grow? This is only the begining for you guys!
I would LOVE to hear the demos. Love is like an understatement. Please let us hear the new stuff! I miss you guys so much and that would make it a little better!

Alot of bands are putting out new albums this summer/year and I really excited aswell! Alot of good tours I'm attending aswell. I will definately check out that band for you! I'm always open to new music suggestions.

Yeah, getting stuck and losing focus and concentration on certain things can be a letdown. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you anytime soon! I wanna keep those great songs coming.
And last, I already knew the lyrics to Too Long. But you know the things you don't expect surprise you the most. I'm sure you weren't expecting that song when you wrote it like you said and usually those are the best things. You know? I'm glad we get to hear the 3 songs because a band usually doesn't give away too much about an album in the process of making it, let alone a few songs.

I like how The Latency keep their fans apart of the music as you guys are going along with it aswell. It's great that we can share our excitement with you guys and I hope to see you soon on the road! <3
